EB-A7

By far the most common form of arthritis, osteoarthritis (also known as degenerative joint disease), affects nearly 33 million adults in the U.S. alone, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).[1] But for those who are diagnosed with osteoarthritis, which most commonly affects the knees, hips, and hands, clinically proven treatment options can help reduce inflammation, minimize pain, and otherwise manage symptoms.

One such treatment option, EB-A7, is an increasingly popular medical food developed to remedy underlying metabolic deficiencies. In doing so, EB-A7 can alleviate the discomfort and mobility issues that often accompany osteoarthritis while potentially slowing the disease’s progression.

Read on for additional information about EB-A7 and the possible benefits that it offers osteoarthritis sufferers. If you’re interested in this medical food or have any questions, don’t hesitate to call our office at 732-366-9866.

How Does EB-A7 Work?

Classified as a medical food by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), EB-A7 targets the symptoms of osteoarthritis with a series of pharmaceutical ingredients. Unlike those in over-the-counter arthritis relief and joint support supplements, EB-A7’s ingredients are active, meaning that they can more quickly begin working to provide relief to patients.

Turmeric Can Reduce Inflammation, Stiffness, and Pain

Each dye-free, gluten-free, and vegan EB-A7 capsule contains 750 milligrams of Turmeric Curcumin 95%, more commonly known as turmeric. Curcumin, for its part, is a “major component” of turmeric, which is widely used to treat arthritis and a number of other arthritic conditions, according to the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH).[2]

Multiple studies have found that turmeric (as well as curcumin) can reduce the severity of osteoarthritis symptoms,[3] and as an active component of EB-A7, the plant ingredient is expected to do just that.

SAM-e, or S-Adenosyl Methionine, Has Also Been Shown to Reduce Osteoarthritis Discomfort

EB-A7 contains 600 milligrams of SAM-e (S-Adenosyl methionine) per capsule. SAM-e occurs naturally in the body, but EB-A7 features a synthetic version of the compound. According to the Mayo Clinic, many studies have proved that this compound provides similar osteoarthritis relief as anti-inflammatory drugs while producing fewer side effects.[4]

Hyaluronic Acid Targets Inflammation and the Progression of Osteoarthritis

Like SAM-e, hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the body, where it helps to (among other things) keep joints functioning at their best. Research shows that hyaluronic acid is safe to use as a supplement,[5] and as a 200-milligram ingredient in EB-A7 it could reduce inflammation and stop osteoarthritis in its tracks by helping joints to feel and work well.

Boswellia Has Anti-Inflammatory Properties, Research Shows

The Boswellia extract in EB-A7 (100 milligrams per capsule) can help reduce joint inflammation and associated pain. An herbal extract taken from the Boswellia serrata tree, Boswellia is said to limit the formation of molecules that cause inflammation,[6] and studies have found that the extract improves the pain levels and mobility of osteoarthritis sufferers.

Collagen Type II Can Reduce the Pain and Stiffness Associated With Osteoarthritis

Hydrolyzed Type II Collagen, or collagen type II for short, is a protein found in a variety of the body’s connective tissues.[7] Studies have indicated that the protein effectively treats arthritis pain and stiffness,[8] and as one part (40 milligrams per capsule) of EB-A7, it can interact with the other described ingredients and potentially make it easier to move in spite of osteoarthritis.

Bioperine Enhances Nutrient Absorption, Making EB-A7as Effective as Possible

The final ingredient in EB-A7, Bioperine (five milligrams), is a patented extract of piperine, a compound found in black pepper. Research has connected piperine to an array of positive health effects, including enhanced nutrient absorption and processing.[9] Bioperine contains a highly concentrated form of piperine and could help EB-A7 patients to better metabolize and absorb the medical food’s ingredients.

What Should Patients Expect When Taking EB-A7?

As with all medical foods, the potential benefits of EB-A7 vary from patient to patient. In general, though, those who take the prescription (the adult dosage is three capsules per day or as directed by a doctor) can expect EB-A7 to improve or correct the metabolic deficiencies that cause osteoarthritis. Consequently, patients may experience less joint stiffness, reduced pain, and enhanced mobility. Additionally, as a result of active ingredients, including hyaluronic acid, EB-A7 can potentially slow the progression of osteoarthritis.

Owing to the presence of SAM-e and turmeric, EB-A7 shouldn’t be taken by patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding, individuals who suffer from gallbladder health issues, those who have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, or anyone who is planning surgery.
